Beginning marketers need to know how to avoid mistakes in internet marketing. But they first must understand what those mistakes are.
My hard drive is very well organized (I am a bit compulsive) but I have to spend some time to keep it that way. When my brain is tired, I tend to take care of this housekeeping chore. I came across this report and decided you need to see it.
Although Jason listed these as mistakes and am turning them around as what to do.
Realize it is all about making money. If you are involved in internet marketing, it IS all about the money. Stop making excuses and do it. That is not to say that you can’t have a blog or website that is not geared to make money — maybe it is to inform, maybe it is for fun, or maybe like my new blog on photographs and stories about family history. It is meant to communicate with fans and friends and preserve these memories.
Understand the “Point of Overwhelm”. We often see it referred to as “information overload”. Another description here is “noise in your head”. I can remember when I first started learning about internet marketing. I would be studying hard and would come across some word or phrase and would think I better get started on that. One of the problems is getting too far ahead. Jason also mentions that you are not going to do everything. If it is not in your plan, forget it. For instance, he doesn’t do social marketing because it is not in his plan and does not try to learn about it.
Knowing the difference between “easier” and “different”. The most interesting part in this whole report is related to this. Harder is easier because fewer are doing it and therefore there is less competition.
Make the decision. He uses the 60 second rule. This something I need to work on. Just ask anyone who has gone out to eat with me. I certainly don’t follow the 60 second rule. Definitely something I need to work on.
